A flurry of weddings

We went to the wedding of a dear friend last night.  Even though it was quite blizzardy out it was beautiful.  They lit a Chinese lantern and sent it flying as part of the ceremony.  It was so pretty.  Plus we have 2 more weddings coming in the next month or so.  So I had to get busy making wedding cards.

For this one, the invites were really modern so I used a modern chevron embossing folder and stripes in their wedding colors.

For this one it was vintage elegance (or country elegance ... the bride wore a beautiful white dress and cowboy boots:) )

I used a viney stamp the I have that reminds me of a shelf and put the words on top.  This was actually mimicking the theme of their invitations too.

Apparently I'm in a white on white mood for most cards these days.  But it works.

Thanks for stopping

With Sympathy

Oh how I hate making sympathy cards.  Especially for people who should still be with us.

A very good friend of my sister and brother in law's passed away very suddenly last week.  I've known him for 30+ years too because he was hanging around them since their high school days.  I've met his wife a few times and just really felt that even though she probably wouldn't know me from Adam I wanted to let her know how sorry I am for her loss.

I used an all gray palette (Smokey Shadow, Soft Stone (PTI), and Basic Gray (SU!)).  The ink was Smokey Shadow and the stamp sets were Natural Beauties and one of the Think Big Favorites from PTI.

Thanks for stopping.

February Stamp Camp Cards

Time for the monthly stamp camp post ... we were supposed to hold it on Valentines day but that was an epic fail (everyone cancelled).  Soooooo I rescheduled for the next week and we were all able to get together and have some stampy fun

This first card was inspired by a mural that is in the cafeteria where I work:

Very simple - kind of austere but it has a quiet calming appeal to me.

The second card was inspired by a card one of my stampy buddies sent me.  The original card (found here) was floral and had more of the orange color in it.  Since I didn't have the same stamps I muted the color palette a little bit as leaves are generally more muted than flowers.

I really like how this one turned out.  The little pop of the orange on the washi tape ... (oh how I LOVE washi tape) ... just brightens it up and makes it a happy card.

Thanks for stopping!!

Already tied with last year

Second post of the new year .... I tied last years total ALREADY.  In a week or 2 I'll make a run for taking the lead.

Its weird to have been out of it for so long.  I hardly remember what details to include any more.  Oh well, hopefully it will all come back to me soon :)

So here are the cards I had in my monthly stamp camp this month (yes I'm even doing stamp camps again!)

Lets start with the pink one ... I used Pretty In Pink and Melon Mambo paper.  I love the banner detail on this one.  I am very jealous of the folks who can whip out folded 3 D banners.  I've never been very god at that.  Last fall I figured out a way to get the look with layered paper
I used the new SU! Sale-a-Bration (started 1/28) embossing folder to get the random dot texture.

On the second card I used the new chevron punch from SU! to make the detail up the side.  I colored a scrap with Copics and taped it inside  to get the hombre look

The speech bubbles are from PTI ... I've started collecting these kinds of sets now too.  They make great collage cards :)

Well thanks for stopping. Enjoy your Saturday!!

Starting the New Year with the Biggest News from last year

So I was pretty absent last year with a total of 2 blog posts (O.o .... seriously only 2 :( ) but I had a really good reason.  Right when I sort of was getting back into blogging (my first post was March 2013) my gentleman friend proposed.  And  then all the wedding stuff so um .... I'm calling that a good reason.

So since I have very little "new" stuff I thought I'd show off the wedding stuff to start off the new year.  I've got stamp camp cards coming (for my stamp campers) but this should keep folks busy for a few minutes.

So may I present ... my wedding stuff

Here is the invitation ...

A little background:  I have always wanted to dance to Chicago's version of Color My World at my wedding.  First time around the DJ didn't have it (what can I say it was the 80s)  and when I told John about it he said - well then lets do that.  OK - I rushed on - well I have this whole idea for wedding invites based on that theme and um ... hoping you would like the idea I made samples.  He smiled and snickered a little and we looked through the samples.  He liked them and so I went into mass production mode

(note that the pictures are from a scrapbook my bridesmaids made for me)

Inside was all the info for the guests

Then there was the rehearsal dinner invite

the program at the ceremony

and finally the Thank Yous

Here we are the happy couple

Color scheme was Cherry Cobbler (on the invites), Raspberry Swirl (on the rehearsal dinner and programs), Pumpkin Pie, and Delightful Daffodil - all SU!

The stamps are Happy Trails and Watercolor Wonder from PTI
